In the Beginning
The year is 2025, and oh my fuck, what a year. Like if you’re reading this in the future, don’t go back there. Anyway, apart from the in your face political insanity and genocides, the internet has increasingly become unusable. The Enshittification [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Enshittification] - coined/popularised a few years ago by Cory Doctorow - describes the rapid decline in the actual functionality of the internet, in part driven by online “product” and “service” providers trying to screw everyone for more money, and, not in any unrelated way, late stage capitalism.
Did I mention “artificial intelligence”? A climate destroying intellectual theft machine that spews disinformation. Yeah, that’s a thing that is increasingly hard to avoid as everyone is embedding it in everything and anything they can find.
This is where we are. And this is why, like many, I’ve decided to make my own little corner where I might at least have a little say in how things are done. In doing so, I’ve also gone back to basics and just doing a simple HTML/css site that will hopefully survive the apocalypse. Well, at least as long as the host Neocities does, but in any case, it is on my computer, and my backups, and they can have this site when they pry it from my cold, dead hands. Or when we’re more focused on hunting for food and looking for shelter as humanity slowly makes its exit from planetary history. I said it was bad.
Anyway, on a lighter note. I just want to share some of my music and maybe meet some interesting people. This is what I do, and this is what this site is for.
